June/27th/2024 Patch Note 0.9 Just Before Release

Where to Begin

I, Dans_Tip, have been diligently updating our website, gabagoogames.ca, over the past few days while finalizing our second game for full release on the Steam Store. Navigating the Epic Games Store has proven challenging due to their less straightforward requirements, so Steam remains our primary platform for now.

 

Project Updates

We delayed The Death of Rebirth (TDOR) to prioritize the development of Snatched for Early Access and PillarsOfFog for full release. You might wonder why PillarsOfFog isn’t in Early Access. That’s because it launches with three maps, with Level 1 featuring extensive areas to climb and explore, making it significantly more substantial compared to Snatched, which debuted with just one map and one game mode. Consequently, PillarsOfFog will receive faster updates than Snatched due to the slower sales of the latter.

Funding and Development

The reality is we need funding, and I won’t sugarcoat it. Over the past year, I’ve immersed myself in learning Blueprint, C++, animation, Blender, and AI, among other skills. My team has also made significant strides, despite one member still being in high school.

We are a family-run business, and game development has always been my passion. Gaming drives me in a world that can often feel depressing. Art, freedom of thought, digital storytelling, and books have always intrigued me. From a young age, I’ve been captivated by fantasy, sci-fi, and military-based books, which fuel my imagination about what lies beyond Earth. I’ve never been particularly interested in our planet, except for its oceans, which remain mysterious and alien-like. At GabaGoo Games, our focus is on story, lore, and enjoyable gameplay.

PillarsOfFog

PillarsOfFog encapsulates the fear of heights, the fear of death, and the drive to strive for higher goals. At release, it represents a significant achievement for our small indie studio. We plan to apply our learnings from Snatched’s UI and PillarsOfFog’s gameplay mechanics to our first multiplayer game, The Death of Rebirth. This promises to be an incredible first multiplayer experience.

This, in turn, helps us focus solely on game development, freeing us from financial worries and allowing us to create great games for gamers to explore and enjoy. July/5th/2024 Patch Note 1.0 Just Before Release

Patch 4 has fixed up collision issues and several other rendering issues including a neck snapping issue on the player character. All has been fixed and Pillars Of Fog since our Patch 4 release is now Full Release Ready.

Full Release!

Pillars Of Fog has been planned for over a year now and we've put a lot of work into our first 3D Platformer. We do have plans to update the game and add more to POF over time, but first we want to hear from the community and see what the feedback is from what we have now ready and running at Full Release.

A quick Small Patch to fix an issue with controls that ended up fixing the issue for full release. An issue our Discord community caught, to which our main programmer took note of and fixed the issue.
